Happy Tuesday!
So, it’s finally stopped snowing for a little while at least. We decided to go have some fun last night, so Shaun cleaned off the truck and we ventured out to the grocery store. Even with the truck in 4-wheel drive mode, it was still pretty sketchy driving. But I have to say… doing donuts in the parking lot was pretty cool!
And somewhere underneath all that snow… lies my poor little car
After we got home, Shaun grabbed the snow shovel and dug out the back of my car, and then he did the next door neighbour’s car too. She lives alone and is a home health care worker who sometimes works nights, so he wanted to make sure she could get out if she needed to go to work last night.
So, that was my exciting night. Today I’m working on catching up on everything that didn’t get done yesterday. It’s amazing how 4.5 hours without power can screw up your schedule!

Today’s Read: 5 Email Sequences You Should Add to Your Marketing Efforts
This week we’re continuing to look at email marketing. Since I’m working on getting my blog launched in the next week or so, email marketing is one of the things at the top of my list. I’m busy creating a new opt-in and tripwire, but instead of just having everything sitting there hoping for people to find it, I’m going to do the whole email marketing funnel thing as well.
Email sequences are exactly what they sound like. They are sets of emails sent automatically to subscribers to streamline and enhance your email marketing process. Automation can be set biased on time or a certain set of events, such as signing up for a newsletter or purchasing a product.
The easiest automation to implement is a welcome email. Not only will it give them their product information, it will also ensure they get into your system to receive the other emails in the series consistently.
Here are the five other sequences you should consider adding to your email marketing automations:
Sequence #1 – Welcome/Nurture Sequence
First, establish the connection with a welcome email. If someone subscribes to your list, you should never neglect the opportunity to say hello and thank you for joining the community. They need to know at first contact what to expect and when to expect it. This is also your opportunity to start building the know, like, and trust relationship with your new subscribers and customers.
Sequence #2 – Abandoned Cart Sequence
This is a straightforward reminder crucial for e-commerce businesses that send reminders to customers’ inboxes that they left items in their cart to purchase. It can also be a great opportunity to incentivize your customers to continue with a small discount.
Sequence #3 – Personalized Discount Sequence
If it’s appropriate to your niche, asking for a birthday, anniversary, or other personal information is a great way to set up an automated series personalized to that specific subscriber. Then, when their birthday or anniversary comes around, you get the opportunity to make them feel special by recognizing their special day.
Sequence #4 – Post-Purchase Sequence
This is a set of emails sent after a subscriber makes a purchase or follows a certain call to action. This shows that you appreciate their business and hope to continue to provide value to them. It also ensures they use the products or services correctly to maximize their usefulness. This is also a great time to ask questions and give feedback to establish your trustworthiness and credibility further and improve your customer experience.
Sequence #5 – Value Driven and Educational Sequence(s)
Also another form of nurture content beyond the “get to know you” sequence, this is a series of emails that focuses on further building a connection with your subscribers to keep their interest and understanding about your business, products, or services. The more education and value you provide your subscribers, the more likely they will become loyal customers.
Email automation doesn’t replace personal communication with your audience when the situation calls for it. But it is there to keep you consistent and help reduce tedious and mundane work. It does not mean you can let it go and ignore it. If you want to crush your email marketing goals, always keep track of the results and test new automated series to see which ones your readers like the most.
