Happy Wednesday!

I’m getting a late start again today! I have a feeling that when Shaun moves in with his girlfriend, I’m going to revert to my night owl ways again.

So, this afternoon I went for a short walk because it was so nice outside, and I needed to stop at the pharmacy and pick up some prescriptions anyways. And I didn’t go into the diner for lunch since I was just there yesterday, and I really am trying to eat at home more often!

So, backup a couple of days to when I went for breakfast on Sunday, and the owner and I were talking about the candies that she gives out for after dinner treats. She’s been having trouble getting the ones that her customers really like, and so she asked me to test out an alternative that she found. It was really good candy, but I happened to mention to her that I had really enjoyed the black licorice candies she’d given me a few weeks prior.

Fast forward to this afternoon, as I was walking by to come home, she came running out of the diner with a big bag of black licorice candies that she’d bought just for me!

That pretty much made my day! And even though I’m not really one to go looking for marketing lessons in everything around me (I’m usually off in my own little world thinking about something else), I thought that was a really great example of how building relationships and taking time to get to know your customers works.

I lead a pretty boring life here in my little corner of the world, so I don’t always have really cool stuff to share, but I thought that was super cool that she did that for me.
