Happy New Year’s Eve!

I don’t know about you, but I am so grateful that I have made it to the end of 2022 relatively unscathed.

Could things have been better?

Absolutely! I didn’t come close to meeting either my health goals or my income goals, but I am still relatively healthy, Shaun is healthy, and DanDan (aka Batman) is still with us. The saddest moment of the year was probably having to sell Big Blue and I still miss that truck! There’s another one almost exactly like it in town and I every time I see it, I miss my own.

Business-wise I got clarity on a bunch of stuff, especially over the past month. A few of the things I’ve learned about myself already from working with my accountability coach:

• I definitely put too much on my to-do list every day
• I spend way too much time doing things that do NOT make me happy (which is pretty bad when you consider that my motto is “create what makes your heart happy.”)
• My health and energy management have to come first above everything else.

And so I thought this quote on my Momentum Dashboard this morning was pretty appropriate…

Resolutions

I tend not to make resolutions anymore because they are too much of an all or nothing proposition. But I do set goals, and this morning I downloaded the digital versions of Leonie Dawson’s My Brilliant Year workbooks to put on my Goodnotes app. They’re included in her Brilliant Biz and Life Academy along with all her courses and trainings, which I am going to be making huge use of in 2023.

Other goals for 2023 include

• Focusing more on publishing for KDP and my personal use store, and less on producing PLR.  
• Finally getting my podcast started
• Getting all my workshop recordings up and organized
• Doing more recorded video and less live stuff
• Finally revamping the newsletter module

That doesn’t mean I won’t do any lives at all, but it bears repeating that one of the important lessons I learned in 2022 was that my own energy management has to come first.

I’ve been doing some time-tracking for the last few weeks, and it seems that I have about 6 hours of productive work energy a day on a consistent basis. Which is why things have to change, because if it takes me 4 hours a day to do an in-depth newsletter, and I spend 2 or 3 hours every afternoon on live calls, there’s no time left for me to be creative. And that, quite frankly, leads to a whole lot of resentment, which in turn blocks what creative energy I do have left over.

And that’s the broad strokes of my business plan for 2023.

So, where do intentions and magic fit in?

Intentions and Magic

Every year I pay attention starting in December to the words and ideas that keep coming up for me, and those lead me to choosing my word for the year. This year the two things that kept coming up over not just December, but since about August, are “intention” and “magic” and so my phrase for 2023 is “intentional magic”

I’m still exploring what that means and what it’s going to look like. The vague idea I have now centers around setting intentions and being much more intentional with my time and energy and expecting magical things to happen along the way. I’ll be blogging more about this, and exploring it on my podcast too as the coming year progresses.

I’m going into the new year with the feeling that it’s going to be a really good one, and exciting changes are happening for me,  and I hope for you too if that’s what you’re intending for yourself!
