Last Day for Weekend Deals, New Self-Help PLR and Being Strategic with Your PLR Purchases

Happy Monday! And Happy Labour Day if you’re celebrating today!

I’m having a quiet day and getting some work done today, since Shaun’s still at his girlfriend’s until later this evening. We had some family time on Saturday, when we went out and played 18 holes of golf before he left for the rest of his weekend. And I’ve just been working away here getting things done so that I can get my act together and really make a dent in my goals for the rest of the year.

Did you also know that today is designated as “Read a Book Day” and also as “Fight Procrastination Day”? I’m actually doing both – spending some time reading, and I mostly feel like my life is spent fighting procrastination!

I was going to write about one or the other of these two topics today, but as I was putting together yesterday’s roundup another idea came to me so here’s what I want to talk about today…

Being Strategic with Your PLR Purchases

Do you have a plan for your PLR purchases, or are you just buying what looks good on the spur of the moment? I’m going to be really transparent here so that I don’t look like the world’s biggest hypocrite, and tell you that I do both…

Some things I have a plan for, and other things I buy because the launch price is too good to pass up. I’m working at getting better at being more strategic, but it’s a whole different mindset and requires a bit of planning and forethought. And we all know those are not my strong suits!

So, here’s what goes through my mind when I’m deciding to buy a piece of PLR…

First, is it a niche I’m interested in? I’ve gotten really strategic here – I really only buy content for the B2B niche and the Personal Development niche now. Earlier this year I did go off script and grab a ton of Survival and Prepper PLR because I’ve been thinking about doing something in that niche, but it’s still gathering digital dust.

Next, I ask myself is this content in a form I can work with? I’ve learned that what I work best with is written PLR and printables PLR. Video is pretty much a waste of time for me, and so is someone else’s audio PLR. Because I’m going to end up redoing ALL of that in my own voice, so that’s a waste of time and money.

The third question on my list: do I have a plan to use this right now? For example, the product that got me thinking about talking about this was Sue’s Simple Calendar Templates. In yesterday’s newsletter I mentioned that I’d be picking these up for myself.

So, why would I do that when I have a calendar creator and could make my own calendars? The easy answer is this – I can use Sue’s templates to easily create a whole batch of products for Etsy, to add to different journals and workbooks I have on my product list, and this will all save me time. That’s a strategic purpose for buying something I could easily make myself.

Cost is usually the last item on my list of considerations of whether to buy a PLR package or not. Most of the time I know that if I meet all the other considerations, and I actually put the content on my schedule to use I’ll make back the purchase price easily.

The one place where I’ve gotten really strategic with cost is when it comes to all access passes and lifetime deals. If I know I’m going to buy a lot of PLR from a certain provider, and they have an all access pass or a passport like Lynette’s 2021 Passport that’s on sale until the end of the day (I bought 2 of them the first time she offered them), then I’ll scoop up that deal and save over the long term. But I’m still strategic in what I download… just because I can grab everything, doesn’t mean I should. (For one thing, my hard drives are all full again!)

The trick when it comes to purchasing PLR – and this is especially true when you’re face with multiple newsletters like mine every day – is to be strategic and read with the knowledge that you don’t have to buy everything you see just because I’m promoting it.

It’s my job to let you know what’s out there.

It’s your job to figure out when, if, and how a product fits into your overall strategy.
